Building Trades School
The building trades are full of ever expanding career opportunities that allow young people the ability to begin gainful employment immediately after high school. Our building trades program was established in 2022 with the goal of familiarizing junior and senior students with these fields. Along with on the job instruction, we aim to ingrain a strong work ethic in students that will be an asset in any career field long after graduation.
Students receive a basic understanding and working knowledge in the major trades involved in construction, including: plumbing, carpentry and masonry. However, the primary focus and curriculum in this program is the electrical field and will give an in-depth working knowledge of residential, commercial, electrical systems and applicable codes. This program is open to any junior and senior students with an interest in training in these fields. The Building Trades School runs in conjunction with the normal HCA school schedule. This is achieved by scheduling trade classes every other week with the off weeks being spent in the classroom on academics.
Completion of the Building Trades Program is worth four high school credits because of it’s comprehensive and multi-field nature. Individually designed courses of study will be worked out with the high school academic supervisor to allow both a high school and building trades diploma to be achieved by graduation. Students who successfully complete this two-year Course of Study and prove to be faithful and conscientious workers will be given a Diploma and record of all classroom and on the job training hours for their resume. They will also be eligible for job placement in the IBEW Local #306 apprenticeship program and in the C.W. (construction worker) and C.E. (construction electrician) programs.
Several companies have standing job offers to our Building Trades graduates as well. Lastly, we also believe this training is wonderfully beneficial for anyone desiring to be understanding of our world’s critical infrastructure and capable helpers both at home and for others whenever the need arises.
Why Choose the Trades Program?
Why Choose the Trades Program?
We operate our school with the understanding that not all students desire or are meant to enter a career field that requires a college degree. As in the body of Christ, each individual has God-given areas of natural talent and tendency. The building trades require an attention to detail, a reliable attendance record, personal work ethic, and an ability to problem solve on the job. It is exciting to watch our young people grow and develop through this program!
